Using the nut splitter
Nut splitters are hand tools to be used with a wrench, possibly a ratchet wrench, and if necessary, a socket of the correct size. Attach your chosen tool to the hexagonal stud located at the base of the device. Then place it on the nut. Turn the stud clockwise until it makes contact with the nut.
As pressure is applied, the stud winds forward and clamps the nut between the shaft and the cutting blade, splitting the nut from one side. You can now remove the nut without damaging the bolt thread.
